What a rewarding building experience we’ve had this past year, working with Richmond Custom Homes’ team of young professionals to build our custom walk-out home in Lakestone, taking advantage of a unique lot and stunning view.
We immediately identified with the innovative design featured in Richmond Custom Homes’ show home, and quickly established an easy rapport with principal, Josh Richmond and his team. We recognized that here is a group that lives and breathes their brand, with a passion for building innovative custom homes with integrity and unsurpassed quality, featuring beautiful West Coast architecture and bespoke interior finishes that perfectly reflect our vision and lifestyle.
Throughout the build, we enjoyed a collaborative process. Their hand-picked team is personable, professional, experienced, ethical and a lot of fun to work with - bringing levity to what can sometimes be one of life’s most stressful events.
They explained processes, researched options with different features and price points, and most importantly - they had time for us. Always available and transparent, inviting us to the site on many, many occasions to make decisions with them, we felt respected. They always conveyed it was a privilege to have the opportunity to build our home. The feeling is mutual!
Our home was built on budget and ahead of schedule, with monthly billings and itemized supporting invoices provided as construction evolved. Budget implications were presented with rationale so we could decide if we wanted to adjust the budget based on our wants and needs.
Monthly meetings kept us on track and informed, and were supplemented with regular communication in the form of emails, phone calls, texts, and links to websites. They escorted us to vendors and helped us make good choices, with ongoing access to cabinet makers, lighting, plumbing fixture, and flooring/tile professionals. We quickly learned that Richmond has built a stable of trusted vendors, trades and artisans that reflect similar values for quality and service.
Tossing out creative ideas at meetings, with suggestions on how this could apply to our home led to customized finishes we are proud to display. Feature details like the etched steel panel wall, stunning staircase cable stringers, and a fireplace clad in three styles of Italian porcelain tile inspired by Richmond’s show home, make for a personalized and inspiring home.
With our backgrounds in commercial development and interior design, we recognized the construction expertise and design knowledge of every component of our custom home.
Difficult news (which was minimal) was brought as early as good news. So we could brainstorm solutions together. Because home building is an organic process, circumstances arose that required a change from the original plan; this was always handled expeditiously and well.
Richmond’s team absolutely went out of their way to get us an earlier possession date than the Gantt chart originally proposed. Very thoughtful and kind, the team members always worked as a cohesive group, pitching in where needed; no one of them was ever above doing whatever was needed to deliver the end result.
As we look around our beautiful home today, we can honestly say there is nothing we would have done differently. Richmond Custom Homes clearly exceeded our expectations and are highly recommended.
